Trileptal is an anticonvulsant medication that belongs to a group of drugs called carbamazepine and oxcarbazepine. The drug is used for treating seizures in adults, who are at least six months into a seizure. It is also sometimes used for the treatment of bipolar disorder.
Trileptal has also been approved to treat patients with epilepsy. It is prescribed to both adults and children aged 6 to 17 years old, and it is also sometimes prescribed for the treatment of other conditions that may have been worsened by seizures.

The results showed that oxcarbazepine (10 mg/kg) decreased the seizure-evoked electrical activity of the electrical activity in the cortex and hippocampus, while the effect of oxcarbazepine on the activity of the other types of seizure receptors was not affected by seizure induction.
